The one caveat is the G1-G6 and the G7-G10 are VERY different cameras.
The original series was a bridge camera, with a superb fast lens,
flip-out LCD with live view and near-SLR handling. The second series
is a reworked P&S with RAW, a hotshoe and a usable UI added. The same
lens, sensor and processing can be had from the corresponding Axx0
series camera if you're willing to live without the frills of the
G7/9/10 (but what frills they are. RAW, full E-TTL II flash and a UI
for adults are a great addition). A lot of fans of the earlier cameras
are very much less than impressed with the newer ones. Lets just say
there's a reason Panasonic called the G1 what it did.
