yeah - I thought so too - but it really is a wicked laptop. I have no
connection with ANY of the mentioned places - just recommending something that
I actually purchased, and am happy with.

About the time I got mine, they would have a couple hundred available, about
once a month-or-two, and they would sell out QUICK. 6 months later, most that
wanted them, have already gotten them, but it is a nasty-wicked-fast laptop, if
you're willing to overlook the 17" size.

I wanted a 15.4" system, and ordered one from Costco.com which was lost (then
found later) and when they refunded that one, and this 17" became available (I
paid $699 - 10% cashback) I would've been dumb not to order it. It was a heck
of alot of computing power in a portable package for $630 or so. My other
choice was a Gateway M-6864FX from best Buy, which is a 15.4" with same T5550,
same 4GB, no bluetooth, 250GB HDD, and was $750. I actually bought one, and put
it aside to make sure no better deals came along within the 14-day return
period (I left it sealed) and then the 17" refurb showed up at tigerdirect.com,
and in discussions on notebookreview.com with other owners of it, I was
convinced to buy it, and return the 15.4" unit.

It's sheer size is unwieldy if you need extreme portability, like a 14.1" or
15.4" lappie, but bang-for-the-buck, it's nearly unbeatable! Unless you can
find the later P-7811FX on clearance (since replaced) at a best Buy, but that
later model, some S/N sequences had overheating issues, which none of the
earlier models had.

I had a family member offer to buy it, $100 more than I paid, and my kids
almost wanted to lynch me! They use it to play on steam, as it's video is
faster than anything else in the house by a long shot! :)

It has Vista Home Premium 64-bit installed, and with the external HDMI, I use
my 42" plasma as a second screen, and use dual-screen in Lightroom to have the
actual photos show up on the plasma, and the LR controls on the laptop LCD.
Works pretty good, although I'd love to be able to buy a 2nd LCD to use with
it!

Wife hasn't approved of THAT yet, as I'm still paying off the K20D on the
credit card :)
And now my LBA isn't helping any, either!

As an aside, on my Tuesday night photography class, I am the ONLY Pentax owner!
There's like 15 Nikon owners (from D40 to 2 D300 owners) and about 10 Canon
owners. No Sony or Olympus owners present.

Feels lonely out in left field :)
But I know what I have, and am plenty happy with my K20D.

Yeah, but it really does feel like an advertisement.
