In rural parts of Africa people carry fairly substantial weaponry around
with them. I remember being very surprised when I went to the bank in Axum -
which was little more than a wooden shed - to see a gnarled little old man
outside guarding about 15 AK47s which customers had left on the porch while
they conducted their business. His sole armament was a dry stick.
