Larry, 16-50 is quite notorious for sample variation. The other one, 50-135 is also not trouble free though less so than 16-50. Personally, I opted not to buy 16-50 all together.

To that end, I think if I were you, I would probably pass on this deal out right.

There are a couple of gear bundles on ebay that are frighteningly tempting.
There's a K10D with a bunch of lenses, and if I didn't already have a
bigma, I'd be all over that auction. It's such a temptation to bid on
the whole kit, to turn around and sell the individual items.

The K20, with the 16-50 and the 50-135, and some other stuff, with a
BIN of $2000, is giving me fits. The 16-50/2.8 would make a great
indoor zoom, and the 50-135 has been on my wish list for a while. I've
really been trying to hold off on getting a K20 and waiting for a
K30.
The sad part is the tricks that my mind tries to play on me. Such as
if I bought the bundle, I could probably sell the lenses for enough
that I'd end up with the body for only $400. Like I'd be able to sell
those lenses once I had them.

I really ought to know better than to scan ebay.

What's even more peevesome is that it's an absolutely gorgeous day and
rather than playing with my camera, I need to go to work.
