With a K100, a lot of things I want are already in the K20.

Features:

I want a good user manual. I don't care about "hold your hand" modes,
but if they're there, I want the manual to explain what they do, not
just when they should be used.

I don't care at all about in camera image processing. There's a reason
that I don't run photoshop on my treo.

I want interchangable sensors. There are times that I'm willing to
give up color for speed, or for more resolution. There are times I'd
rather have a low resolution, high speed sensor, or a sensor without
an IR filter, or a small sensor with high resolution to make the most
of a telephoto.

I want "expose to the right" metering.

I want a mode where the camera takes a test picture (or several), and
rather than relying on the "realtime" light meter points, analyzes the
data and sets the exposure based on the actual scene. It then goes
into manual exposure, with that as a starting point. That's how I
shoot, but I have to base my guess off blinkies from the in camera
jpeg, I want it to look at the raw data and not clip any channels.
I'd like this mode to work with a flash. I'd want to be able to set
how much clipping (1% of the area) I'm willing to accept, but would be
willing to adjust after the camera took it's best guess.

I want mirror up and bracket modes to be orthagonal. If I'm taking
bracketing shots, I want the mirror to stay up so it doesn't
bounce. For that matter, I'd like it to bracket with just one press of
the shutter.

If I do something stupid and my camera is doing a 30 second exposure,
I want to be able to abort the shot.

I want accelerometers in the body that are tied to an electronic level
in the viewfinder that'll tell me when the camera isn't level. I'd
like those angles written into the EXIF so software could
automatically straighten my crooked shots.

I want a split prism focusing screen without paying more money to
katzeye to get one.

I want it to read the aperture ring of my old lenses like the D300 and
D700 do.

I wish that the firmware were user modfiable, so I could add the
software features I want.

If a cmos sensor could take 2-3 shots within a fraction of a second
for HDR that would be cool.

I'd like a sensor that could do two shots, moving the sensor 1/2 pixel
diagonally between them, to double the resolution.

I'd be willing to give up a lot of bells and whistles that put all of
the performance available into a body the size of, or smaller than my
K100. I'd be happy with two bodies with compatible lens mount systems
(even if it means an adapter). An I don't care much about the size
DSLR along the lines of the K20, and the same sensor and analog
electronics in an "as small as possible" EVIL body, where I'd even
give up my optical viewfinder to save space and weight, but wouldn't
give up the sensor.

Performance:

I want ridiculous levels of low light sensitivity with implausibly
good S/N ratios and dynamic range.

I want a big enough buffer that I can shoot pictures and not have to
wait for the buffer to empty. I'm not as concerned about frame rates.

In short, I'd like to be able to shoot indoors, without a flash,
ideally at the point where it's too dark to read newsprint or easily
see color. If I could flip the bayer filter out of the way, or change
sensors, to do so that would be fine with me, even if my low light
shots were B&W.

I'd like the camera to have a simple, open standards, interface to
allow it to quickly offload the pictures to a computer as I'm
shooting, and to display them on a big display. Being bi-directional,
it would also take gps data and the like in.

The above is a good start on my wish list.

My shopping list is signifcantly improved low light and buffer
performance over my K100. If the K20 were a little bit better, I'd
probably already have one. I also want weather sealing.
