I don't know whether I "overexpose" for fog photos. I try to pick the correct exposure, which may or may not be what the meter says.

I pick my subject and usually make a range of exposures bracketing what I think is the correct exposure for the particular result that I'm looking for. It's tricky as all the white haze tends to fool the metering system. On this occasion, I was using Av mode with the L1: this particular exposure was at the +2 EV bias and rendered what I wanted. Other successful fog shots have been at +.7, +1 and +1.3 EV when using Av mode with this camera, unless I went to spot metering mode and locked in a more precise exposure beforehand.
