My husband gave them to me for Valentine's Day, and he hid them around
the house. One of them was under my mouse, which was warm. Looks like
that was the culprit. Sorry about the false alarm, and thanks for the
help! :) The battery is the same temp as the rest now. :)
phew!
and happy V day

Not enough information given. You just got the batch, how long have you had
them, how did they arrive in your hands? Did you transport them? Could
the suspect battery have been on the side of the package with sunlight
exposure? Did they arrive in a parcel, could a similar heating scenario be
presented? Have they been in one location long enough to have stabilized
and the suspect battery really is warmer. Just playing devil's advocate
here.

Probably.
I suspect the batteries should only warm up under load (or when charging).
There may be a short somewhere?
Others more knowledgeable than myself may have a better idea.

I just got a batch of batteries for my Nikon kit, and it looks like
one of them is 5 degrees warmer than the others. It's 82 degrees
Farenheit on the outside surface instead of 77 degrees like the
others. I noticed it when I opened the package, and I checked it with
the infrared thermometer we use for cooking. Is that a sign of
anything bad?
Thanks,
Amita
