Image Wrap option means that the cover photo is imprinted into the texture of the cover rather than having a separate glossy-paper book cover (dust jacket). Advantage of Image Wrap option is that it will be more durable; with frequent handling, a paper dust jacket can easily be torn. Advantage of Dust Jacket option is that the cover image will be much higher quality. Plus you will have whatever material the editor chose to put on the inside flaps front and back. Underneath the dust jacket is a plain black cover. Softcover is like Image Wrap: the image is printed on the cover material itself and there are no inside flaps with whatever the editor may have included there. However, with the softcover, because of the material used, the image quality on the cover will be closer to the paper dust jacket than to the Image Wrap version. And the softcover itself is also prone to damage from careless handling, but it will be more durable than the paper dust jacket.

Summary:
Cover image quality: Dust Jacket > Softcover > Image Wrap
Durability of cover: Image Wrap > Softcover> Dust jacket
Durability of book: Image Wrap = Dust Jacket > Soft cover
Extra editorial material on cover flaps: Dust Jacket version only

Order three copies...

What is it "picture wrap" or "image wrap" or whatever wrap option there is on Blurb site when you get to choose the finish of the book?

FedEx just delivered the prototype PDML book and everything looks OK, so I've made the page "live" and you can order as of this minute. I've made some minor changes and corrections (typos, missing italics, and one duplicated photo) from the test book, but all the images looked fine, so I'm confident what you get will look as good as what I have here. The bottom line is that you folks are some *fine* photographers! I'm very proud to be involved in this project!

Like that cover image? It's a photo mosaic containing all the photos in the book (plus the ones that were submitted but didn't make it into the book due to space limitations). You can buy a 16x20" poster of the book cover in the PDML Cafe Press shop:

Or get a PDML Book t-shirt:

And on a tangentially-related note, you have a new coffee mug option available in the PDML shop. It has the PDML logo and a Bob W. quotation from last year's list:
