it's not unusual to see politicians and other prominent people on the tube (ie subway, not TV tube) here. Not usually the front bench politicians because most of them have police protection, but I have seen Nigel Lawson, former Chancellor of the Exchequer (finance minister) several times. A surprising number of them cycle around London too.
