They wouldn't be true photographs though - they'd be useless-piece-of-shit-ographs. Bob ========= Been reading reviews of the new Kindle 2 (so I can be prepared to argue against it, though that argument seems dead. :-)) One, the text to voice thing is not implemented for all books, something to do with a author's guild, lots are unhappy about that. Two, the screen blanks out in bright sunlight. Three, lots of faulty Kindle 2s delivered to people. Four, you have to buy all the books through Amazon and it is proprietary to the Kindle, so you can't upload it to anything else (say from the Kindle 2 to your computer). Five, you are only leasing the book. Six, the normal price is $9.95 per book. People really think that is cheaper than books? Than paperbacks? Than used books? You have to add that onto the $350 price for the Kindle 2. And, of course, only some books are available and some of those books they are charging $9.95 for are in the public domain (i.e. you can find them on the Net). I admit I didn't really understand the text to voice flap, haven't been paying attention to Kindle. But I am reassured, a lot may buy it, but it is not going to cause books to disappear. If a reader is going to make books disappear, it's going to have to be tons better. (Also everyone shown reading it is holding it in their hand, not on their lap or anything. Makes me wonder why.) Me, I often fall asleep with a book on my bed. I'd be afraid to do that with a machine. A real book, shrug, it can fall out of the bed and it isn't hurt. Nyahhhhhhhhh. Marnie :-) Maybe it partly depends HOW MUCH you read on whether you are attracted to it. --------------------------------------------- Warning: I am now filtering my email, so you may be censored. **************Worried about job security?
