As for 70-200/2.8, basicaly the choice is between Sigma (and potential problems including compatibility ones) but HSM (only!!) and Tamron (no compatibility problems) but old screw AF. Both seem quite nice lenses.
I have the Tamron, and I really love it. It is very sturdy and good IQ, but be warned, it is heavy.
