"Demand" has become a faint "whisper."
Which will have an effect on pricing. I don't think Hoya is
interested in selling at a loss, and if they are having to re-
estimate the number of units they are going to sell, I expect we
can expect new lenses to be rather more expensive than we were
hoping they would be.
Unfortunately, if we don't buy them, we can also expect that they
will not be putting much new stuff on the market.
The voodoo economics of selling cheap, and taking a loss, to make
sales is a sure way to kill a company.

I agree with Bill. I like inexpensive as much as the next person, but
I have been pleased to see what seems like more realistic pricing
from Pentax lately. They have a good product, their DA* lenses and
DSLR bodies are arguably as good as anyone's (quibbling about
individual features aside), and they should price them accordingly.
It may hurt me a bit with each camera or lens purchase, but it
increases the chances that they will continue in business so I won't
have to do a total system switch when my current camera bodies die.
And I bought a lottery ticket today, so I should have the funds to
buy the 60-250 when it arrives. And it is not one I would take on my
Rome trip, so I am not even all that concerned about when it will
arrive.
