thanks Bob. actually we were walking towards them when it started
raining, rather heavily and i only had the 16-45. we had to scoot
fast. ;-)

i hope you finished your breakfast without batting an eyelid. :-) it's
a rather holy river, next only to the ganga for south indians but i
don't think too many cremations take place now, unlike
kasi/benares/varanasi (even that is only hearsay because i've never
been there personally so don't really know how it is). because the
confluence has religious significance, a lot of rituals are still
performed there though there wasn't much happening during our
visit. it's about 350-odd km from chennai along the coast and me and a
friend of mine had gone there on our motorcycles on a weekend.
