Thanks Dave, Marnie, Paul, Bruce, and Bob. We read an article that claimed
really only Chicago & Boston (& New York?) do a really big St. Patrick's day
parade--that most cities don't do a major parade, which surprised us a bit.
It's been a while since I have been to the Chicago parade, and I forgot how
much of a holiday it is for college students :-)--they were everywhere :-).
I'm about to post a little street GESO of the day, & a PESO of the River
dyed green, so everyone can see that, but also to feature my new DA 21mm.
Gosh I love this lens. I didn't use it that much yesterday because of bad
position at the parade etc, and I find I really have to retrain my eye for
it. With the longer zoom, I find myself looking "out ahead of me"--across
streets, down the lane, up above, but with the 21mm I have to reframe my
inner perspective when shooting people to "Howdy, let me introduce myself"
distance, which is nerve-racking, but I'm enjoying it more than I thought I
would.
Also, what I really want now is another K20D--one shooting wide & one
shooting longer. I have a very deep affection for my K10D, but gosh, the
K20D is great too. I'm not very quick at changing lenses when working in
the field, so 2 K20D bodies would be great--as would a summer home, a more
luxurious car with hired driver, and say, a 4 month work year :-)))))
Thanks again everyone. Cheers, Christine

Christine,
Fun shots. I meant to go for a visit.
But by the time I looked at the clock, the river had been dyed green
and the parade was underway.

Hi Everyone:
Just a few parade shots. Midday sun was a bit of a challenge. Everyone was
in a good mood with the very agreeable weather we had. The kids were just
too cute today.
