How long has it been since you purchased the K20D? B&H is always
willing to do a replacement, and I would think can make up a body
only kit if they have a body/lens kit on hand.
Still have plenty of time. Only took delivery last Friday.
BTW, I did finally compare my K20D and K10D, and the view of the
focus screen through the viewfinder is identical.
Thanks a lot. I appreciate you comparing.

Two possible reasons I am aware of are misaligned prism, and/or

I remember I managed to put my thumb into the viewfinder of my MZ-S

quite similar to what you describe.

Thanks everyone. Got the usual send it in for repair. Currently B&H
is out of stock on the body only so a replacement might be some
time in coming. I may just send the K20D in before I put the K10D
up for sale.

Warning, slightly obsessive post.
I posted this over at pentaxforums.com as well but would like to
see if any
of you have ever encountered something similar.
I just got a new K20D as an upgrade for my K10D. One thing I
noticed right
off as a difference, is that the focus indicator lights on the
K20D are
slightly lower than on the K10D.
By way of illustration, here is sort of what I see when it is set
to the
center point. The dash and the underscore represent the indicator
light.
K10D ( - ) K20D ( _ )
Another data point is that, with the viewfinder firmly planted,
if I move my
eye slightly toward the far left indicator light it disappears.
If I am
looking straight ahead I am able to see this light. Again this is
a stark
contrast to my K10D in which all the lights are bright on
consistent no
matter where I look in the viewfinder.
It seems like something is misaligned. Could it simply be the
focus screen?
Visually the focus screen seems OK, lines are straight etc.
Nothing seems
out of whack with the actual auto focus so I've half a mind to
just disable
the superimposed indicator lights. I pretty much just use the
center point
anyway.
