In this vein, I have a similar question. For an extra $40CAN I can get the pentax FA 80-320 How do the two compare? 100-300 vs 80-320. For a little extra money you get a little extra range - why do they make two such similar lenses. Has the larger one been discontinued which is why it is relatively cheap? Or is it a re-badged tamron?
