BTW, the mirror hanging up on your MX couldn't have anything to do
with the battery as the shutter/mirror is completely mechanical. The
battery only runs the meter. All else will work if the meter pooches.

Probably slapping that poor mirror up into the goo that is all that's
left of the mirror slap foam is the cause. Pry it back down with a
screwdriver and small hammer (nah, better a popsicle stick, clean end)
and scratch out the old foam and replace. Sheets of foam available
pretty reasonable.
