Ouch. Was it defective? Or just not as good as you  had hoped?

If this ad had been posted three weeks before:
K10D / $400
50-135 / $530
Tamron 1.4x teleconverter / $70
fastpack 350 / $70

whole thing for $1000, I probably would have gotten it rather than the
K20, and used the K10 as a stop gap until I found out what Pentax has
up its sleeve.

But right now, I really can't do it.  Oh well. I even resisted bidding
on the Tamron 24mm/2.5 I saw on ebay that ended up not getting any
bids. When I refrain from buying an interesting lens for under $100,
then you know times are tight.
