You might think we don't know when you don't read your mail. You
might wrong. I don't usually do this, but I'm going to give you a
head start. You see, the Brotherhood was recently dispatched by the
listguy and should be arriving any minute. If you get out now you
might have a very slim chance of escaping unharmed. Stay where you
are and you'll be forced to look at thousands upon thousands of 6x7
slides of Wheatfield's dogs.
I hope you appreciate this, Joe, because I've probably just lost my
red level security clearance.
Posting from an undisclosed location nowhere near my home, perhaps not
even in the same state, or country:
Sorry about that clearance, Scott. I know they are hard to come by in
this day and age. But you opened your mouth! Snitch!
I do read ALL the PDML mail with the exception of long drawn out
threads that have no bearing on me or my life, such as wedding
photography, or esoteric tomes on feelings and photo-propriety. Porn
IS allowed in my house!
It's just that I always feel pressed for time, every day, to get the
things done I desire to get done, and still feed the dogs, myself, and
the cat. There's the obligatory 2 hours, sometimes less, at the leash
free dog park(s), and the 4 to 6 hours watching my favorite TV
programs and buzzing through my NetFlix. Lately making a visual
(taking pictures) record of my photo and computer equipment, some in
preparation for Craig's List and eBay, processing from 15 to 300
images from the dog park(s) and other subjects that happen to strike
my fancy, and of course, staring at the wall when I feel like it. Not
to mention the tens of thousands of prints and negs I have to go
through and do something with in some way. Ideas abound.
Life was so much easier when I was NOT retired. Get up, go to work,
home, dinner, TV, bed. Never had time for any of the other pleasures
(except when I was married on two occasions) such as personal
photography, racing my cars, swimming in the pool, etc.. All more
easily done when there is a mate to help with the chores and joys of
life.
Hey! I found a photo of the back of Imogen Cunningham standing on her
back stoop in SF as we were heading into her house for a darkroom
session! I am a disgrace to the street shooter bunch. :-) And there's
one of me jumping for joy at my and my second wife's wedding when I
weighed less than half of what I weigh now! And 30+ rolls of half-
frame shot with my Pen FT whose contact sheets are so small I have no
idea what some of the images contain! And.... wait for it.... I just
bought a Durst 606 enlarger because I have 3 storage chests of NIB and
used accessories for that model that never could be used on my Durst
600. They were pay for work 12 years ago. So I now feel obligated to
set up a darkroom in my downstairs bathroom - the one with no windows.
Prints will be made! Film will be processed (still have Nikor tanks
and reels (lots of them) for 16mm, 110, 126, 135, 120, and 220 film).
Lots of sheet film hangers between 2x3 and 5x7, but no tanks left.
Can you take a bath in the same tub you use for your processing? Will
the chemicals stain the pink tub (I rent!)? <sigh>
Love you all as I might, you do take up a lion's share of my time each
day. I may have to become a lurker! < hold those cheers, please,
until I've left the room > Okay, he's left the room....
