Well on this show it was the part of the conception, but also didn't had
too much choice by having full manual flashes without any form of
control (except positioning) :) On the other shots (see my flickr stream
if interested) I did we moved around the room (he was standing on my
bed, with almost white background behind him) and tried to bounce the
light a little bit more.
Well it was fun to do these shots anyway :) and I learned and most
importantly, experienced a lot of things about "studio photography" :)

I'll third that. The highlights being a lot brighter than the main
image isn't something that I'd suggest for every shot, but it works
great here.
