It's frogspawn coral shot through algae that had been gone over by a snail. When the snail eats, it only harvests about half the algae in almost a checkerboard pattern, which I guess means that the algae grows back a lot faster than if the snail ate a continuous strip. -- The fastest way to get your question answered on the net is to post the wrong answer.
