I was planning for silhouettes. Then this guy came along with much
lighter plumage than the mallards and with such nice irises to boot.
Had to fiddle a bit with the contrast/curves in PS, Would have loved
to lighten the shadows a tad with a flash, but I didn't have one with
me.

The particular lake I was at is great for practice because it's very
well known and described by other bird photographers.
