I'm one of the people who recommends that book, but I don't take their
advice on this. Normally I just delete everything from the card after I've
downloaded it. However, I use different cards in different cameras - SD in
the Leica and CF in the Olympus - so there's no possibility of problems
caused by different levels of adherence to standards. If I had different
camera models / firmware using the same type of card I would probably come
up with some other idea.

Since my experience with a corrupt frame at the weekend though, I will make
a format of reformatting after a firmware upgrade.
