Ah,. but there's ~lots~ going on up there.  You just can't see it is all.

That's the space above the couch where her head would be were she
standing.  To me it emphasizes the fact that she's playfully resting
her chin on the top of the couch.  The space "up there" rather
suggests her body position which is hidden by the couch, again
emphasizing her playful attitude.
