We are planning a holiday in Italy at the end of the month. We would like to rent a car while we are there; but some of the guidebooks say we "may need" International Drivers' Permits. This surprises us, because we have rented in the UK, France, and Germany with only our U.S. licenses.
So, have non-EU people here rented cars in Italy without IDPs? What rental company did they use? Many thanks for any information.
