The Canon 70-200/4L IS runs about $1,100.
Both lenses are weather-sealed f/4. The Canon has IS built in. But the
Pentax offers 10mm wider and 50mm longer range.
If I were still shooting for newspapers I would be chomping at the bit
to get this lens.
