Seriously, "The Gypsy" was probably a bad title. I wouldn't want to disparage Roma. But the clothes (costume?) the girl was wearing invoked that name. Not that genuine Roma dress that way, but that's the stereotype hear in the heathen colonies:-).

live their lives in defiance of convention and spit in the eye of
conformity. While somehow keeping a rose between their teeth.
