Yes, I unintentionally did another test (details to follow) and I was wrong and Paal was right, the MZ-S does imprint on rewind.
Now for the details. I recently loaded a cassette with Portra 160NC. However while loading the cassette, my loader failed to "click" for each frame and since I was loading inside a changing bag, I continued to load until the cassette was full. I loaded this roll in the MZ-S to shoot snaps at a New Year's party. When I got to exposure 40, the MZ-S reset to 0 and rewound only far enough to have left the leader out, leaving about 35 or so frames left on the take up spool. Therefore, I had to open the back and manually remove this roll. Something else I learned, which may also be true of other Pentax bodies. If you set the ISO manually the setting remains the same for all non DX cartridges until you change it. It does not automatically reset to ISO 100, even if you've used a DX cassette between non DX ones.
