I've been working as a cameraman over the last couple of days shooting training
videos for a friend's company. It been a while since I've done this kind of
work but the company has a great marketing guy who's done lots of
producing/directing in his time so it's been a real pleasure.

I was shooting a tapeless video format called XDCAM. It shoots HD video to SxS
media cards (dual slots) on a zippy little camera made by Sony, the PMW-EX1:

We shot directly out of the camera through a capture card (coverting to ProRes
format) into Final Cut Pro. I simultaneously recorded directly to the SxS cards
for redundancy. One of the cool features of the SxS cards is that they have the
same physical architecture laptop ExpressCard/34 so they slide right out of the
camera and into a laptop like a MacBook Pro.

Technology is changing quickly in video acquistion, just as it is in the DSLR
world.
