I am not sure if you mean the same flatbed as I, but the Epson
Perfection Photo series or how is it called certainly can't do 1600 or
3200 ppi?!? The scanner's hardware resolution is only 1200 and 1600
ppi respectively, and in fact even less, as Epson used dual CCD of 600
and 800 ppi coupled together, ofset by 1/2 pixel size, and
interpolated into 1200 and 1600 ppi (so it's similar to digicams, the
real resolution of image detail is somewhat lower than the stated
resolution). I don't see a way it could turn out decent pics at 3200
ppi, unless there was some optical teleconvertor in enlarging the
image.
