I also love my "new" MX!!! I've got mine a few weeks ago as Christmas gift, run a few rolls of film through it and already fall in love ;o) My first impressions: - Build quality and feeling... Despite I have Super-A with not so bad feeling of sturdy metal body (comparing to modern auto-focus wonderbricks). MX feels far sturdier... - Shutter/mirror noise is far quieter then Super-A's. With my Super A I distinctly can hear two waves of noise: first one - when mirror goes up (it seems that mirror stops by bumping into the foam pad) and when shutter process selected speed; second one - when mirror goes down and stops in its lower position. With MX - first wave is almost inaudible (MX's mirror is stopped by internal mechanics, without bumping), rubberized silk shutter is noiseless too... Basically you hear the mirror when it stops in its lower position, that's all!.. The practical issue of this - less vibration: handshooting is possible with lower shutter speeds (especially with problematic ones like 1/30, 1/15, 1/8?)!.. - And last (till now, I hope ;o) - viewfinder: it looks bigger and slightly brighter then Super-A's one. Moreover it covers slightly more percentage of frame, with this last point I've got a little surprise: I almost never had a problem with the issue that lab cuts part of the frame during printing. On the very first roll from MX I've immediately got a few pictures with very tight framing or cut off subject's parts!.. Now I'm learning how to avoid this ;-)
Ok, Shel, good luck with your MX, Vlad. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Shel Belinkoff" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Pentax List" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, January 03, 2002 15:53 Subject: The Wonderful MX > A few weeks ago I bought a very nice MX from Daphne and have used it a > few times.
