Random thought for the day: everyone keeps admonishing - "bring
layers."
When I was growing up, layers (as opposed to roasters) were hens that
produced eggs. Every time someone mentions layers I can only imagine
a bunch of free range chickens roaming the N.C. wilderness ready to
sacrifice their all for our breakfast or dinner.
At least it displaces the image of rabbit ears.

As for what to bring, temperature varies wildly on the mountain.
Bring layers. A good rain jacket and/or wind shell is damn near
required.
