A couple months ago, it was mentioned on this list that Frankie Manning (one of the original lindy hoppers) passed away a month shy of his 95th birthday. Here's a tribute video that was put together for his birthday party.
The shim sham is a choreographed dance that dates back to the 20's, mostly jazz steps. There are a few songs that it is traditionally done to, the most common are "Tuxedo Junction" and "It ain't what you do". Though, the dancers in San Jose used to do it to "Mambo #5". It was kind of like a signature dance for Frankie, and he and his son Chazz Young would regularly perform it to "It ain't what you do". To make this video, dancers from all over the world videotaped themselves dancing the shimsham to "It ain't what you do", it was then all edited together. You may not recognize the people in it, but you'll certainly recognize several of the locations. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_k_BIA_unI -- The fastest way to get your question answered on the net is to post the wrong answer.
