Is the new Tamron AF SP 90/2,8 Di Macro equally good?

Outstanding lens. They go for about $150 in EXC conditon w/o mount. Early version was metal 49mm filters, later version plastic 55mm Filters, both same optics. I like the early one better but it is Heavier.
