Hmm... the midground thing could maybe be accomplished with the curves
tool. However I kinda like it as it is, to draw attention to the
flowers.
Just a personal preference of mine. A very nice image as is.
On the issue of ND filters I don't have an awful lot of good to say
about them. I think the shading effect introduced to uneven horizons
are in most cases worse than overly bright skies. As it stands with
this shot, however, I know there's detail in the highlights, that can
be pulled down if needed. :-)
