Sure, but they're also really hard to duplicate.  Bits are easy to
duplicate.

That's a reasonable decision if you can afford to write the lot off.

If you can't, tape -- yes, really, tape -- and a safety deposit box are
probably your best bet.  (Tape lasts when it's just sitting there; DVDs
you can burn in the drive don't.)

I consider it a hobby, too, but I take backups fairly seriously; I've
got a significant chunk of my brain in computer files.
