I have the ZX-5n which is the same as the MZ-5n. The so called
spot metering is metering of a central area as seen in the view
finder, which looks rather big. It should perhaps be more
appropriately termed "partial" metering. To meter the detail
in a scense without having to approach them, zone system or not,
I think the Pentax 1-degree spotmeters would really be useful.
I had both the digital and the V. They are highly sensitive
meters.

As to MZ-M (ZX-M)'s 2-segment matrix metering, I read that it's
about the same as its center weighted metering anyway (feature
marketing gimmic?) If so, that shouldn't be a concern. I have
this camera. I cannot tell the difference.
