Well i know that combo works very well. Nice and sharp photos. Wendy Beard has posted a few of her canine photos on Face book and they look great. No in camera focus adjustments, just point and shoot, Getting impressed here.:-)
Wendy could get a sharp photo using a Coke bottle for a lens and a Crackerjack box for a camera body. I find the ease by which she turns out really good dog photos to be rather annoying.
