I just did a few test shots with the DS in Av mode. I couldn't get the camera to set an ISO higher than 800. There seems to be a built-in limiting ISO that is not able to be set by the user (unlike the K bodies) and, based on your tests, the limiting ISO might be different depending on the shooting mode set.
