I got a chance, along with about 25 other people, to play with the K-7
last night.
They had about 4 bodies floating around the table, and just about
every DA lens that Pentax currently makes was there to play with.
One of the bodies had the vertical grip on it.
Impressions (as a K10D users): Small, fast, light, quiet. Exposure
and autofocus are much improved. I put the 540 on top and shot across
the table with a mirror in the background - the K7 photo exposed the
room correctly and blew out the flash which was visible in the
mirror. The K10D right after that exposed for the "highlight" (the
flash) and everything else was dark. You can probably guess which I'd
prefer.
After about an hour and 15 minutes of slideshows and demonstrations
(during which I was grabbing various bits and testing things..
everyone else sat there and watched the screen at the front of the
room), they held a drawing and one lucky person left with a new K7 in
his hands. Bummer it wasn't me! My odds were 1-in-25 which wasn't
too bad. I was bummed.
I foresee a new camera in my future. It was very nice. Too bad I'll
have to do it mail-order. No stores in Minneapolis carry the K7. :-(
