I just bought a Pentax SMC 500_4.5 in M42 on German EBay ( http://cgi.ebay.de/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1320073462) for 250 euros ($223). Since I recently bought a 400/5.6 PKA, the only reason to get this lens is to use it with a nice teleconverter.
What would be the best 1.4, 1.7, and 2.0 TC for such a large lens in M42? Are they as good as the Pentax K-mount TCs? I've heard that the Vivitars might be the best screwmount TCs. Can I simply attach the M42-to-K Pentax adapter and connect this to the K-mount 1.4 and 2.0 XL-A telconverters? PS: There's another M42 500/4.5 SMC selling on U.S. Ebay now.
