This is pretty much my first chance to sit down at a computer since Saturday. To make a long story short, I bartered taking photos at a dance workshop for a huge discount.
I like the K-7, I *want* the K-7, right now I can't buy the K-7, I didn't win the K-7. Still not king. The K-7 is slightly larger than my K100, and a lot denser. The focus seems to work pretty well. I realized that you just can't learn much about gear playing around with it in a hotel room. It is somewhat tempting to buy one at Fry's and return it after spending a weekend putting it through its paces under real life conditions. But there are two problems with that: 1) It's slightly less than ethical 2) Returning the K-7 Where John liked the 15/4, I liked the 14/2.8. I've realized that I like the same things in lenses and women. Not wide, sharp and fast. The SDM focus is a bit eerie. I didn't notice anything focusing super fast, but it was quiet. In my current financial position, I took care not to play too much with the lenses. The topic of my pocket camera came up, and people marvelled at the lens cap on my DA 40. I forget who told me about it, but I'm certain that the sunshade had to have been designed with that in mind. Mark even took pictures of it. -- The first step is learning to take great photos, the second step is learning to throw away ones that are merely good.
