I just received 3 SanDisk 4GB Extreme III cards from Adorama. A
friend recently had a problem with counterfeit Kingston cards that she
purchased from a generally reputable vendor, so I probably paid a
little more attention to these cards than I usually do.

I noticed that the cards had what looked like a serial number on the
back, and two of the cards had the same number. The third differed by
one digit in the middle. This seemed suspicious to me, so I took
pictures of the front and back of the three cards, and opened a
support case on SanDisk's website to ask their opinion.

It took them all of 13 minutes to review my case and respond. They
thanked me for the photo, which they said was helpful, and they
indicated that they believe the cards to be genuine. The number on
the back is more like a lot number than a serial number--they said it
relates to the date of manufacture.

Their response was well-done and remarkably fast. We've spent
millions of dollars with vendors at work and not gotten that kind of
response. (And I remain a happy Adorama customer.)
