Hey, cool! I'm a pianist and a major fan of Brubeck and Monk, myself. I
had disc four of the Time Signatures box set in my cd player as I read this
message! Tritonis is one kickin' song - great latter day Brubeck (playing a
different time signature and key signature in each hand!).

Brubeck takes some criticism, but did you know that both Cecil Taylor and
Bill Evans liked Brubeck and cited him as an influence? Monk, of course, is
almost beyond criticism. Few cover Brubeck; many cover Monk, but almost
no-one really *can*!

I also enjoy Coltrane and all the Impulse tenors and sax players - Pharoah,
Barbieri, etc.

Also love Mingus and Steve Grossman and Borah Bergman and Ivo Perelman and
Tony Williams and Eric Dolphy and ...

Well, I could keep going - but I won't. Maybe I'll go talk Pentax on a
music e-group! :-)

Rob
