The button your asking about is a reset button in case you activate the shutter and your battery fails during the operation. That will lock your mirror in the up position. Then you would need to replace your old battery with a new one and then push the reset button and the mirror will return to its resting position. Hope that helps, and yes you will need a pen to push the reset button.
