Hope your boys came through allright, Bob. That's exactly the kind of situation I was thinking about for increased risk of getting MRSA infections.
I believe some investigations have shown that misunderstandings about how to prevent infection among nurses and other healthcare personel must carry part of the blame for spreading the bugs. Not sure if it was conducted in Europe or US though...
