Howdy, folks,
Well, I finally got around to checking out the local Fry's Electronics
after they advertised what looked like a K-7 in their weekend sale
supplement. As it turned out, they do have the K-7, and want US$1,299
for it with the 18-55 kit lens. I looked into the locked cases as well
as I could and did not see any other Pentax kit on offer. They had a
charged battery in it, but no memory card. I played around a bit, and I
like the camera, but other expenses mean I'm not going to be able to get
one for a while, possibly until its successor arrives.
I went in because I needed some additional SD cards for my K10D and for
my mom's P&S camera. I found exactly *two* SD cards on offer that were
faster than speed class 6! One was the 2GB Patriot cards I've used for
quite a while (133X rating) and the other was an 8GB card by (I think)
Panasonic (rated as speed class 10, 20MB/sec).
The vast majority of them were speed class four with a handful of speed
class six cards. So it looks like I'll have to get my SD cards from the
internet now, too.
