It's a new intro model, sure. It's a rather ferociously spec'd intro model, and it's, possibly for the first time in living memory, a place where Pentax is out in front of all the other camera companies in marketing something. Supposing that 50/50 split on male/female buyers for the white K-m is true—I have no reason to doubt it—this is potentially a significant big deal. I'd prefer that Pentax was out in front for reasons related to image quality, but, hey. It's a horrible economy. Pentax can sensibly enough take what they can get, it's leveraging Hoya's manufacturing expertise, getting more outright new DSLR shooters is a good thing, and the 55-300 is optically really seriously good for what it is. If people's intro to Pentax kit takes really good pictures, well, they might spend more money on Pentax over time. > Somehow Bob's buttocks were more, um, sensational. It's bad enough to discuss Bob's buttocks without discussing the sensations thereof. -- Graydon -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
