Thanks. A lot of the technique is summarized in the second half of my
.signature (throwing away a lot of shots), and a lot of it is being
willing to accept technical imperfection for a good shot.

I was also amazed at how much difference a monopod makes when shooting
below 1/30 second.

The funny thing is that since the Friday dance usually requires
shutter speeds of 1/6 to 1/10 second, being able to shoot 1/13 - 1/20
seems like a lot of light. I've found that for slow dancing, the
threshold for getting decent shots seems to be about 1/20 of a second.
Below that, and the keeper rate goes way down. This is why I'm so keen
on cameras with high ISO performance.
