Moore's Law doesn't apply if you have to keep the chip some fixed physical size. So, baring someone figuring out a better way to make camera sensors (which is certainly possible) the prices for sensors in that size class are going to stay up in "gasp, wheeze" territory. RED lists their 56mmx42mm "645" sensor at 43 kUSD, for example.
